Interpretation of the Genesis 1
Genesis is the first book written by Moses. The book covers the story of the Creation (Genesis 1); story of Adam and Eve(Genesis 2-3) ; about Cain, Abel and Seth(Genesis 4); about the flood at the time of Noah(Genesis 6-9); Abraham and Isaac(Genesis 17-22); and, Joseph and his Brothers(37-50).
On all of the books of the Bible, this book has one of the most intriguing context, the context of Creationism.
Genesis 1:1 and 1:2
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth “
“The earth was without form, and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. “
The transition between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 was too vague. It gives us the meaning that God created the heavens and the earth, then recreated it again.
Considering that it was translated from Hebrew, which was the language of Moses, who lived in the ancient times; and considering that Moses interpreted what God told him. There must be some errors. If you consider combining Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 as a single sentence, and putting some specified words on the context, we would come up to this:
“In the beginning (when/before) God created the heavens and the Earth, the earth was without form and void and darkness was on the face of the deep and, the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”
Or maybe the context written in the Bible was right. Without those corrections, we would still come up with a single interpretation.
God created the Universe, which was boundless. He also created the source of all things(which was called Earth), theoretically a large black hole.(Proof: Description in the Genesis 1:2)
Black holes were once stellar bodies that radiated light, with the gravitational force and the nuclear energy produced from nuclear reactions counteract to maintain stability. When the source of nuclear reactions was exhausted, the gravitational force will compress the materials within making the once stellar objects more concentrated. Since the gravitational force is proportional to the mass and inverse squarely proportional to radius, when it concentrates its matter on the center, reducing its radius, the gravitational force becomes stronger and accumulates more mass up to the point that even light cannot escape.
Black holes can last forever unless there was a stronger force that will destabilize it. Nothing is stronger than a black hole.
“…without form, and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep.”
Black holes can’t destabilize unless there is a Divine being stronger, interrupting the black hole’s system. And that is God.
“…And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”
That was another proof. He was interacting in the thing, “Hovering”.
“Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.”
God restarted the nuclear reactions within the black hole; creating outward nuclear forces which will soon overcame the black hole’s inward gravitational force. Thus what was proposed in the Big Bang Theory happened. There was light. Stars formed. Galaxies formed. And the solar system formed.
The Earth formed along with the planets and the sun. This is where God continued His project.
“God divided the light from the darkness.”
Since the Earth was formed and was spinning, there were times(Day) when a part of the surface of the Earth were exposed to the sunlight and time(Night) when that part were not.
At that time, the Earth was still a spinning ball of molten materials.
“Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”
“Thus God made the firmament and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.”
“And God called the firmament Heaven…”
Gases were released and the Earth’s atmosphere was formed, which divided the sea of empty space (waters which were above the firmament) and the molten surface of the Earth(waters which were below the firmament) – more like to be called the Sea of Fire.
Waters literally mean bodies of water(or fluid). So Genesis 1:6 can be interpreted as such.
The Earth looked like Venus at that time. The planets are following an Einsteinian orbit, which means that they were spiraling away rather than moving around the center, which is the sun.
When the Earth was cool enough, the hard crust was formed and the water vapor in the atmosphere reaches the ideal temperature for precipitation, pouring rain and filling the Earth’s surface with water, forming another sea, which was made of water.
“Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together in one place. Let the dry land appear”
Thus the continent-building came into place. Volcanoes erupting, gaining height until it emerges from the surface. There was continuous eruptions taking place, since the heat difference between the interior and the surface of the Earth is big.
You can describe the Earth as a rainy planet, rains all over the place. Since water evaporation caused by melt coming for volcanoes, the Earth was filled with rain clouds. And volcanoes were also releasing water vapor into the atmosphere.
Even so, life began. According to scientists, the first living things were formed from amino acid pools, which were areas of high amino acid concentration.
No matter what you do to amino acids, it can’t be a living thing. If it does, all of the foundations of science and the distinction of living from non-living organisms will be destroyed.
There has to be an Engineer. There has to be Someone who will create those things. And again, It is God.
“Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruilt according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth.”
God never hastily make that thing to happen. He made the foundations for these organisms to emerge. He made the single-cell photosynthetic organisms, which will evolve into sea plants then to dry land plants in the future.
With the Earth still covered with thick clouds, God commanded:
“And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and season, and for days and years.”
“And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the Earth.”
Of course, why would God create plants if there was no sunlight to nourish them? He cleared the heavens. The Earth was cool enough. The volcanoes were less active. The rains had stopped and the skies became clear. With the sun(greater light) to light during the day and the heavenly bodies(stars and the moon to light during the night.
“God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the Earth.”
God set them, through what? In the firmament of the heavens, for what? to give light on Earth. It doesn’t mean that God placed them in the heavens but God made the firmament as a filter on the light that will illuminate the Earth. The gases in the atmosphere(heaven) are agents of scattering of light. The firmament is the setter of the light on the Earth.
“Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the Earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.”
It is true that life started in the water. Evidences show that sea creatures were the first ones to exist.
How about birds? What are the predecessor of birds? Reptiles. Their predecessors were once dominant of the Earth. God didn’t hastily made them, they made them through evolution.
“Let the Earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the Earth, each according to its kind.”
“…creeping thing and beast of the Earth, each according to its kind.”
I know its to vague to explain but I think Genesis 1:24 talks about the emergence of mammals.
“Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
This is the most intriguing part of this essay. Genesis 1:26 and 1:27 vs. the Theory of Evolution.
Try yourselves to concentrate on reiterating Genesis 1:26 and 1:27 over and over again. What will you notice?
“Let ‘Us’ make man in ‘Our’ image, according to ‘Our’ likeness….”
Us? Our? Does that mean that emergence or creation of man was not done by God alone?
The created man through time through evolution, the ‘Us’ refers to God and the specie undergoing evolution.
“…Our image…” “…according to ‘Our’ likeness…”
It means that man’s ancestor, the specie that was our predecessor looked like what we looked like today. It is inclined to develop into God’s image. “In the image of God, He created him.” He created who? Jesus’ ancestor, Adam. Jesus is God’s Image.
Evolution is true. Creationism is true. They do not contradict each other.
Division of Light from Darkness
Day 1(21 BYA – 4.4 BYA)
Day 2(4.4 BYA – 3.8 BYA)
Days 3 and 4 (4.0 BYA – 570 MYA)
Day 5 (570 MYA – 65 MYA)
Day 6 (65 MYA – 200 KYA)
Day 7 onwards (200 KYA- Present)
The Story of Creation in the Genesis didn’t happen in seven days according to Moses, it took billions of years to happen. God didn’t hastily make it happen. The Bible never mentioned “in an instant”. God did it for long periods of time. Moses didn’t have enough vocabulary to put it on words so he depicted those times as days.
Even so, God let it be written. For this all contributes to the Coming of the second Christ. The doubt about this story will be a test of faith. Those who still believe, even though it appears to be falsified, will be accepted in the Gates of Heaven. Those who do not will receive God’s judgment in the future. That will be a perfect timing for the Second Coming of the Christ, mentioned in the other intriguing book, The Book of Revelations.
To those who do not believe in God, not only because of what was mentioned of the Bible appears to be falsified, but also of the misfortunes they’ve experienced and lack of attention on God’s calling, what is the point of not believing in Him? There’s nothing to lose if you believe in Him. What if He really exists, which is absolutely true? What are you gonna do about it? You lose faith just because what was written in the Bible was vague and unclear? Why people have to be atheist?
I’m trying to defend and explain on what is on the Bible because I have faith and I believe in it. Just remember that:
God (gives the message) -> Messenger(interprets God’s message) -> Hebrew(which was too ancient to understand and translate) -> English(end product)
Think about it.
